Meet Our Doctors

Linda Nguyen, OD

Optometrist

Dr. Nguyen studied Sports Medicine at Pepperdine University and proceeded to obtain her Optometry degree at University of Houston. She then moved to Maui in 2005 to join her mom and sister. Passionate about the water and outdoors, the move to Maui was a natural fit. In 2012 Linda took over a family owned optometry business and strives to grow and enhance Maui Optometry’s reputation for friendly customer service and state of the art equipment.

In 2015, she moved the practice to Maui Lani Village Center to better serve Maui’s growing community. Linda has enjoyed traveling the world while helping the world see, on OneSight mission trips to India, Nicaragua, Mexico, Thailand, Chile and she hopes to continue to serve the global community annually. Outside of Optometry, Dr. Nguyen enjoys golf, tennis, surfing and Olympic Weightlifting.

Ray Glauser, OD

Optometrist

Dr. Glauser grew up working in his family’s natural food store in Miami Beach, Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology at Florida International University and his Doctor of Optometry at Pacific University in Oregon. In 1989, after practicing in Portland and The Dalles, Oregon, he moved to Maui and practiced at Kaiser Permanente for 32 years. While there, he practiced side by side with many talented specialists and primary care physicians.

He is now practicing at Maui Optometry in Kahului. He has strong interests in specialty contact lenses, diabetic eye disease, and preventative care. He often volunteers giving presentations about eye care. Besides Optometry, he pursues various water sports and outdoor activities. He is a board member of the Hawaiian Sailing Canoe Association and a member of Hawaiian Canoe Club.

Meet Our Staff

Darolene Agtaguem

Darolene ‘Dee’ Agtaguem has worked in optometry for over 30 years as receptionist, technician, optician and insurance biller. Dee started with the late Harry Anzai, OD; then continuing on with his son David Anzai, OD and now as a seasoned member of the Maui Optometry team. Dee attended University of Hawaii – Maui, completing several vocational courses in health care services (certified nurse aide, phlebotomy, etc) and is also a licensed massage therapist. Dee grew up in Puunene near the now defunct sugar mill and takes pride and joy in serving our Maui community. Dee is blessed with four children and recently became a proud grandma.

Matilde Yanos

Matilde Yanos started at Ooka Supermarket in 1989 until the business shut its doors in 2005 when she started with David Anzai, OD. Matilde is passionate about helping people understand the importance of eye health and regular eye and vision checks. Being a Filipina, Matilde is grateful for the ability to assist Maui’s Filipino community, she can see the joy in their faces when they know that someone can communicate with them. Matilde describes herself as a hard-worker and passes this strong work ethic on her two children, who both have graduated with their chosen degrees.

Erika

Optician

Erika is originally from Oahu and has been on the island of Maui for about four years. She enjoys crossword puzzles and singing karaoke. She has been in optical for about 13 years and loves helping patients find their perfect frame and lens options. She is currently working on becoming ABO certified so that she can further educate herself in this field.

Julie Schiller-Lopez

Optician

Julie started her optical career as a receptionist and soon decided she wanted to be an optician. After receiving a degree in ophthalmic dispensing, she passed the test to be an ABO certified optician. She has maintained that certification for 31 years. Julie is very grateful for the opportunity to join the Maui Optometry ohana and to provide the highest level of service patients. When not working she enjoys exploring the island with her husband and two dogs, volunteering at the humane society and facetiming with her adult son who is an actor in LA.

Malia Mendez

Optician

Malia started her journey in the optical industry over 25 years ago at Lenscrafters as a Lab technician. She decided to get her ABO certification and became a Dispensary Optician. In 2000 she made a move to Dr. Clifford Rhodes office at Maui Medical Group and worked for him for nearly 21 years. She left in 2020 when Dr. Rhodes retired. Since then she worked for another Ophthalmologist and recently move here to Maui Optometry. When Malia is not working she enjoys her time serving. As an Assistant Pastor for New Hope Kahului Church. Malia is married to her husband for 27 years and they both have 4 beautiful daughters and 4 grandchildren. Working in the medical field for 21 years, Malia’s passion is to serve her patients with the best care they can get.
